In business environment especially when giving presentations where
processes and procedures, it is common to use passive.

Each component was tested to destruction.
The first studies were carried out in Germany.

To sound less formal, use the active with we or they;

We tested each component to destruction.
They carried out the first studies in Germany.

Facts and opinions can certainly sound confident;It’s a well-known fact that what the West researches the East develops.
It’s a little-known fact that 90% of all new products fail.
It’s a common misconception that advertising works.

But the following sound more friendly;Everybody knows that what the West researches the East develops.
A lot of people don’t realize that 90% of all new products fail.
People often make the mistake of thinking that advertising works.
